Railroad Earth 1/29/16 The Vogue Indianapolis, IN

The one and only Cornmeal kicked things off for our boys at The Vogue theatre in Indianapolis last Friday night. It mellowed down quite a bit after Cornmeal for the first set. Andrew Altman (Bass) was on stand up, along with John Skehan on the mandolin. They busted out some long jams toward the end of the first set, grooving out for quite some time, strobe lights so strong you couldn’t see, only the silhouettes of the people around you and the backdrop lights on stage flickering psychedelically. The first set ended in such a melodic state, we weren’t ready for it to end! (The sound in The Vogue is best upstairs, right side where you can enjoy a drink in the seating on the rail with no one standing in front of you my favorite spot to watch the show, production and hear the excellent acoustics.)

They switched it up a bit for the second set, Andrew Altman on electric bass and John Skehan switched to keys and one of his many instruments, including the Bouzouki and mandolin. At one point Skehan and Andy Goessling, another multi-instrumentalist, were shredding the mandolins simultaneously. Andy Goessling on the banjo is a sight to see as well! Tim Carbone was feeling this set we could tell with his many funny facial expressions. The crowd got Todd Sheaffer laughing and making intense eye contact with fans. The guys had a great time you could tell. Tim Carbone came out to talk to the fans afterward as usual; what a nice guy! That was a hell of an evening with Railroad Earth.
