Before the show that night, VIPs were gifted a private mini acoustic set before the show started in the VIP lounge. Keith was on his upright bass, Kang on his mandolin and Jason on his drum box. They played “Old Train”, “Chili Dawg”, “Deep Elem Blues,” The Beatles’ “I’ve Just Seen A Face”, “Sand Dollar” and finally “White Freightliner Blues.” Wow is all I can say…

As everyone scavenged to find some 3D glasses from the night before, the show kicked off with a beloved 15 minute “‘Round The Wheel.” Then “100 Year Flood” was played and we were reminded of flood relief victims in North Carolina which affected some of Billy’s immediate family. Next we heard a song that has never been played called “Travis,” which is an improvisational song with Michael Travis on the vocals. This song took us to another dimension, with it’s eery, yet beautiful lyrics, kind of similar to last New Years’ “I’m Still Here” that Michael Travis also sings and wrote, which we haven’t heard since. Next was “45th of November,” written with Robert Hunter, who also wrote a lot of Grateful Dead songs. This was a very emotional song for many fans, as it was sang very heartfelt by Kyle that night, bringing tears to many eyes, not to mention the sick nasty jam at the end that cleared the tears away and brought us into a magical realm that String Cheese jams often do. Finally, “Birdland > Flying Home Jam > Birdland” was the perfect ending to a perfect set. “Flying Home Jam” is usually sandwiched between “Birdland,” but somehow it was like it was the first time; it was just THAT good! This set blew everyone out of the water and was deemed a lot of fans’ favorite set of the weekend, giving us those classic cheesy songs that we were longing to hear after a super intense first night.

Set 2 was also super queso fuego, giving us classics we were dying to hear! Read more…

It was a mild winter in Broomfield this year, so standing in line for a good spot was not as intense as last year! Upon entering the First Bank Center, each of us were given a pair of 3D SCI glasses for the show, something they’ve never done before! The theme for the night was “sparkles,” so everyone was equipped with their best, shiny gear. They opened with an unfinished Just One Story, busting into a twangy “Rollin’ In My Sweet Baby’s Arms.” Then, just when we least expected it, “Bolly Munster” exploded the whole place with Jason sounding super trippy on the vocals. “Look At Where We Are” settled things down a bit with some funky basslines from Keith and ending the first set with a seriously nasty “Dirk.”

They started the second set Read more…

SCI Rhythm of the Road Vol 2

The String Cheese Incident is thrilled to announce the release of Rhythm of the Road: Volume 2, Live In Las Vegas – the second installment of SCI’s live archival series that highlights the band’s most celebrated concerts with re-mastered limited edition releases.  The three-disc set will be released on October 9, 2015 on SCI Fidelity Records. Fans can get a taste of this special release exclusively today on JamBase, who is premiering the track “Got What He Wanted.”  Listen HERE.

The String Cheese Incident were in the middle of their 2001 coast-to-coast summer tour when they pulled into Las Vegas for the band’s first ever, “Sin City Incidents.” Touring in support of the band’s new studio album “Outside Inside,” and a couple days after the live Austin City Limits TV taping, the band settled into the Aladdin Theatre in July 2001 for two incredible late-night Incidents. Rhythm of the Road: Volume 2, Live In Las Vegas features the best moments of that two night run and includes fan favorites such as “San José” and “Howard,” as well as rare bust-outs like “SKAT” and more. The audio has been completely re-mixed and re-mastered, creating a listening experience that all SCI fans will enjoy.

“We are excited to be releasing the second installment of our Rhythm of the Road live series,” said bass player Keith Moseley.  “It’s always fun to listen back through the archives and find old shows that we consider to be important shows in our band’s history. Las Vegas is always a big party and these shows in 2001 were no different.  It was July in Vegas so it was really hot.  Everyone was really going for it musically, stretching out some long jams during these late night shows.  This compilation features some songs we’ve never really officially released like ‘Dirk,’ ‘Cedar Laurels,’ ‘Howard,’ ‘Windy Mountain,’ ‘Turn This Around’ and many others.  We are real proud of it.”

Pre-orders for album are available now through the official SCI online store: http://bit.ly/1VNANEU. Those who pre-order the album will automatically be entered to win one of several prizes – one hundred people will be randomly selected to receive a signed copy Rhythm of the Road: Volume 2, Live In Las Vegas.  Ten second prize winners will receive free MP3 downloads of every Las Vegas show that is available on LiveCheese.com, five first prize winners will receive the MP3’s as well as the official Aladdin Theatre show poster from 2001 signed by the band.  One grand prize winner will win a pair of tickets to all three SCI NYE shows in Colorado as well as the MP3’s and signed poster.
